Café des Sports
About This Spot
Stepping into Café des Sports, nestled in the heart of Saint-Genix-les-Villages, you’re welcomed by a warm, inviting ambiance that strikes a perfect balance between a bustling local hangout and a cozy countryside retreat. The pace here feels comfortably unhurried, encouraging guests to settle in and savor more than just the meal—it's as much about the shared moments around the table as the food itself.
This is a place where the hearty spirit of the region meets genuine hospitality. Conversations hum softly across the room, mingling with the clink of glasses and the occasional burst of laughter from neighbors and newcomers alike. The staff’s friendly attentiveness adds a thoughtful layer to the experience, making you feel cared for without ever rushing you away.
On the plate, Café des Sports offers more than just popular dishes; it serves up a taste of local tradition and comfort. Whether you’re drawn to richly matured meats cooked with care, the satisfying crunch of hand-cut fries, or a perfectly balanced pizza with a touch of inventive flair, each bite feels like a small celebration of simple, honest flavors. The menu’s variety means there’s a little something for every mood—whether a long, leisurely dinner or an energizing midday stop.
The mixture of a lively bar atmosphere with the relaxed charm of a neighborhood eatery creates an approachable space where everyone is welcome. It’s the kind of spot where strangers might share a spontaneous round of song in French, or where families find an easy rhythm of connection over well-crafted plates and thoughtful wines.
Here, the experience carries a distinctly human touch—meals shared across this inviting space aren’t just about nourishment but about the joy of being part of a community, even if just for an evening or a week on the road.

Countryside vibe, the meat and fries were great. Had to sing happy birthday in french with all the guests for a random person, no regrets

Okay, now I have to admit that I found this place without looking at reviews, on the basis of, 'it was nearby', and I was in the area for work. But... it really is excellent. Kitchen starts at 19:00, and it was always busy (three of us there for a week working - we went back every night). I am there this week on my own. Guess my choice. Food is really good, no, it really is. Even the pizzas. Tonight i has the duck breast.... tomorrow is still open. There are enough choices to keep any foodie happy. Even fondue.

This was the best we had this holiday. The meat was juicy and the staff was super friendly (surtout Raphael)! When in France, we will for sure come back. Wonderfull wine aswell.

Great place to stop for a nice lunch from or on your way to Lyon! There is something for everyone, from charcoal grilled meat to local specialities like ravioles aux morilles

The food was the best we had on our bike trip. We went for lunch and came back for dinner.
